Vanessa Wu: French to English website translation
We launched ourselves feet first into the fashion world recently, partnering with French women’s shoe company Vanessa Wu to provide an English version of their website and online store and also to translate a number of PR and marketing documents into English.
A brand with an aim of providing choice, comfort and affordability, Vanessa Wu has designed a huge collection of heels, sandals and pumps for all occasions. Founded in 2011 as a wholesaler, the company decided to make the move to begin selling to the public online last year. The next step for the brand was to provide an English version of the website and online store for their growing customer and retailer base.
Our team of English translators and editors translated a number of webpages, for instance an FAQ page, legal information, their terms and conditions of sale page, and of course a great deal of footwear product descriptions for the online store, from the bottine talon haut (high heeled boot) to the escarpin (pump) to the moccasin (loafer). They also worked on key documents for brand communication – such as press releases and newsletters for distributors.
With such an array of different types of footwear in a range of colours, we spent quite a bit of time researching shoe terminology for this project, and also spent quite some time studying photographs of the product range to ensure our descriptions did them justice. So, we can safely say that we are full of footwear inspiration for the summer!
We are looking forward to helping the brand reach out to further markets in the near future.
The efficiency with which the teams at Anja Jones Translation delivered back the texts is much appreciated, as is the quality. As we’ve reached each new phase of the online store (eg. customer referral programmes, photo competitions, newsletters to distributors), we have been able to count on Anja Jones Translation as a partner in our international development. The next big step will without doubt be the launch of the online store in Spanish.
