Jetting in for Spring 2019 is our new German translation intern, Philipp
Joining us for the next three months, and bringing some unseasonably warm weather with him, Philipp arrives at AJT in the final year of his BA in Translation Studies in English and French at Heidelberg University.
Hailing from Möckmühl in Germany, Philipp initially started training as an English and History teacher. He then moved into legal training, before finally deciding that his heart lay in language and communication and embarking on his translation journey.
Philipp is one of life’s true communicators – he loves to talk, he loves to listen, and he loves people. While there’s absolutely no question he enjoys his languages, his real passion lies in sport of all kinds, especially football. He watches and plays football, standard and American, and at home in Germany he referees matches and is both a sports announcer and commentator.
He’s not sure yet where his language journey will take him, but for a polyglot, people person and sports fanatic like Philipp, there’s always the media, journalism, TV or radio work to consider. Dream job? Commentating on the Champions League final – now there’s something to aspire to.
Philipp has quickly settled into Newquay life and says it already feels like home. He’s enjoyed his first pasty, is making friends, and looking forward to trying his hand at surfing.
